Jaguar Seasonal Advice
Unable to achieve a comfortable temperature or de-fog your windscreen? Your car may need an air conditioning service. Regardless of mileage, it is suggested your vehicle has an air conditioning service every 2 years to ensure it is working to optimum performance.
Did you know?
Your Air Conditioning requires regassing every 2 years as 10-15% is used before it’s even turned on.
Having your Air Conditioning re-gassed decontaminates your system, removes any bacteria that could potentially filter back through and be released into your car.
You should maintain your Air Conditioning even in the colder months as it helps demist your windows quicker.
A clean Air Conditioning system reduces emissions as dirty or damaged air filters reduce the air flow to the engine affecting the cars air fuel balance.
Replacing a clogged air filter can increase fuel efficiency improving acceleration.
Not regassing your Air Conditioning will leave it less efficient and less effective when you want to cool down or demist your windows.
During your Air Conditioning Service, we will check for any leaks in the system to ensure the system is maintaining as much gas as possible.
Summer Driving Tips
As summer arrives and we all enjoy the sunshine, remember that the holiday season can mean high temperatures, increased stress levels, and extra demands on your car – so here's our advice to help with the bigger challenges of summer driving.
Prepare your vehicle with a top up of fluids. More travelling means more oil, screen wash and Ad Blue are used. Should you be travelling more this summer ensure you carry out regular top ups so you don’t get caught out.
Know your journey and should you not have Sat Nav, the alternative routes you can take. Summer holidays can mean more traffic on the roads so set off in plenty of time with a good knowledge of the local areas.
Plenty of fuel. Ensure you have enough fuel to complete your journey and be aware of local petrol stations.
Check your wiper blades. It wouldn’t be a Great British Summer without the downpours after a bit of sun. Ensure that your wipers can clear your screen efficiently and are not split or dragging when in use.
Keep a cool head. Regardless of how much you use your air conditioning, over time gas will escape from the canister similar to how air escapes from a balloon. It is recommended getting a full air conditioning service on your vehicle every 2 years. To check when this was last carried out on your vehicle please contact our service team.
Check your tyres. As the four main contact points between you and the road, tread depth, inflation and tyre condition is essential to road safety.
Check your brakes. Stop, start driving whether it be cruising around the city streets or stuck in motorway traffic takes its toll on your brakes more than the number of miles you travel.
Invest in travel solutions. Travelling over the summer doesn’t always mean that you travel lightly. Investing in a roof box, bike rack or interior storage solutions can guarantee your full visibility on the busy summer roads.
Travelling abroad, do your research. Make sure you check all the necessary driving requirements for the country you are travelling in. For example most countries on the continent require high-vis jacket and warning triangle to be in your vehicle at all times.
Keep a pack of essentials, just in case: Screen wash top-up, Top-up oil, Phone charger and Spare tyre/tyre sealant.
If you would like us to help you with any of the above, please feel welcome to contact us and ask about our vehicle health check appointments.
Your car battery like any other battery will discharge when not used. At cold temperatures, your batteries ability to provide sufficient power to run your vehicle will also demise therefore with the potential reduction in your vehicles use during lockdown coupled with the colder temperatures we suggest you connect your vehicle to a battery trickle charger.
A healthy battery should last at least 2 weeks without needing to be started up to re-charge (this may reduce in colder temperatures), try to avoid excessive “wake-ups” of your car’s electrical system and avoid locking/unlocking or switching on the ignition without driving the car.
Once a battery has discharged beyond a level it will no longer hold a full charge and will need to be replaced.
If you have any questions or issues regarding your battery, please contact your local Lloyd Service Centre who will be happy to help.
Important screen wash information
It is important to ensure that you are using the correct screen wash for your car as recommended by the manufacturer. Genuine screen wash not only cleans but reduces bacteria build up in the washer jets and tanks. Should bacteria build up it could cause a blockage in the system leading to further work required.
