Parts and Accessories FAQs

How do I know when to replace my battery?

There are a few signs that it may be time to replace your car battery.

  • If your car has trouble starting, especially in cold weather, this could be a sign that your battery is weak.

  • If your car's electrical accessories, such as the radio or lights, dim when you start the engine, this could also be a sign of a weak battery.

  • If you notice any corrosion on the battery terminals, this is a sign that the battery is not getting enough charge.

  • If your car battery is more than three years old, it is a good idea to have it tested to see if it needs to be replaced.

You can also have your battery tested by a mechanic to see if it is still holding a charge. If the battery is not holding a charge, it will need to be replaced.

How often should I replace my brakes?

There is no definitive answer to this question, as the frequency of brake replacement will vary depending on a number of factors, including your driving habits, the type of car you drive, and the quality of the brakes you have. However, there are a few general guidelines that you can follow to help you determine when it is time to replace your brakes.

  • Check your brake pads regularly. Brake pads are the part of your brakes that actually stop your car. They are made of a material that wears down over time, and when they get too thin, they need to be replaced. You can check the thickness of your brake pads yourself by looking at them through the wheel wells. If they are less than 1/8 of an inch thick, it is time to replace them.

  • Listen for squealing noises. If you hear a squealing noise when you brake, this is a sign that your brake pads are worn down and need to be replaced.

  • Feel for a spongy brake pedal. If your brake pedal feels spongy or soft, this is a sign that your brake fluid is low and needs to be replaced. Low brake fluid can also be a sign of a leak in your brake system.

  • Have your brakes inspected by a mechanic regularly. A mechanic at your Local Lloyd Service Centre can check your brakes for wear and tear and can tell you when they need to be replaced.

It is important to replace your brakes as soon as they need to be, as worn brakes can be dangerous. Worn brakes can take longer to stop your car, and they can also make your car more likely to skid. If you are not sure when to replace your brakes, it is always best to err on the side of caution and have them checked by a mechanic.

How do I know when to replace my spark plugs?

There are a few things you can look for to know when to replace your spark plugs:

  • Engine misfires. If your engine is misfiring, it could be a sign that your spark plugs need to be replaced. Misfiring can cause a number of problems, including poor fuel economy, rough idling, and a decrease in engine power.

  • Check engine light. If your check engine light comes on, it could be a sign that your spark plugs need to be replaced. The check engine light is usually triggered by a problem with the engine, and spark plugs are one of the most common causes of this problem.

  • Spark plug condition. You can also visually inspect the spark plugs to see if they need to be replaced. If the spark plugs are fouled or damaged, they should be replaced.

It is important to replace your spark plugs regularly, as worn spark plugs can cause a number of problems. Contact your local Lloyd service centre to discuss any queries you may have.
