24 May 1972. BMW Motorsport GmbH and today’s BMW M GmbH launch operations. The goal had been clearly defined – and it was revolutionary for the circumstances at the time: BMW’s racing activities would be bundled and professionalised under one roof. Motorsport with its diverse challenges would fuel the construction of vehicles and engines. The iconic BMW Motorsport emblem with the three colours blue, red and violet is a striking, distinguishing feature.

Sao Paulo Yellow. The M RR 50 Years M with the BMW 50 Years M emblem and its striking colour stands out from the crowd. It is therefore in the best M tradition: M models have always been exclusive and extraordinary.
More than a symbol. Blue for BMW, red for motorsport and dark blue for the unique combination of the two: the uniform appearance was already revolutionary in 1972.
RACING LIKE NO OTHER – WITH UNIQUE M DNA
In 1978, the logo was added with the three coloured stripes inclined towards the letter M, emphasising speed and dynamics. It was developed by Giorgio Giugiaro, Italdesign. And to this day, it has lost none of its radiance.
Racing DNA in every detail. The M RR 50 Years M has also been uncompromisingly geared towards performance off the road: With the M Cover Kit, the Sport assembly stand including the assembly stand mounts and the motorcycle carpet, the M RR is ready for every race track and for new victories.
