The two inlets for the Air Breather and the M gill elements on the sides reduce aerodynamic drag around the wheel arches and optimises the aerodynamic performance.
As part of the BMW intelligent lightweight construction concept, the carbon fibre reinforced plastic roof helps to reduce the vehicle's weight and lowers the car's centre of gravity. This increases agility and dynamics when taking a bend, accelerating or braking.
The rear lights are all LED. Their elongated L-shape forms a fluid transition from the luggage compartment lid, accentuating the distinctive styling of the rear end.

The engine blends the best of two worlds: high revving up to 7,600rpm, and power culminating in peak torque of 550Nm. Bi-turbo direct injection and M fine tuning ensure the engine responds to the slightest touch of the accelerator to give impressive thrust and confident traction.
Numerous innovations such as sleeveless construction and a lighter forged crankshaft improve dynamics and acceleration, reduce consumption and enable optimum weight distribution of almost 50:50. M 6-speed manual transmission
With a 12kg reduction in weight and a more compact shape compared to traditional models, the M 6-speed manual transmission in the BMW M4 Coupé exemplifies intelligent lightweight construction. Inside the transmission, the new carbon fibre friction lining in the baulk rings provides more comfortable gear shifts, and a dry sump lubrication system ensures a more efficient oil supply.
7-speed M double-clutch transmission
Shift gears without interruption, without using the clutch and without slowing down. The 7-speed M double-clutch transmission with Drivelogic makes this possible. Gears can be changed automatically or manually using the gearshift paddles on the steering wheel or the gear lever. Launch Control guarantees maximum acceleration from a standing start.
The Active M differential optimises traction and driving stability when changing lanes or accelerating out of a bend. When taking bends at high speeds or on different road surfaces, traction is optimised with the help of an electronically operated device. This reduces the difference in revolution speed between the rear wheels.
By electronically regulating the shock absorbers, Adaptive M suspension automatically tunes the vehicle to suit all driving conditions. The suspension settings can be modified for high comfort or sporty dynamics via the COMFORT, SPORT and SPORT+ modes on the Driving Experience Control.
