Meet our Apprentice Panel Technician, Grace - International Women's Day 2023

Company News

Throughout this week, we’ve been shining the spotlight on the women who work across Lloyd Motor Group in recognition of International Women’s Day 2023!

To round off our celebrations, we caught up with Grace, our Apprentice Panel Technician at Lloyd Bodyshop Kelso, to learn more about her role and how she’s finding her apprenticeship at Lloyd Motor Group.

Tell us a bit about what your apprenticeship involves and your current role.

I work for Lloyd as an Apprentice Panel Technician, and my job varies on a day-to-day basis. I strip and refit a lot of panels such as doors, wings and bumpers, before they are painted to perfection and sent back to the customer. I also repair panels and with the help of my supervisor get them finished to a top standard.

What is the biggest thing you have learnt so far?

Over my first year at Lloyd, I have learnt so many things from so many different people. However, the biggest thing I have learnt so far is that perseverance is key. No matter how difficult a job is, there is always an answer and a solution. Giving up is never an option, and if you persevere and keep trying different tactics and methods you get there in the end.

What advice would you give to someone looking to start their apprenticeship at Lloyd Motor Group?

Just go for it! Starting a new job can always be a nerve-racking experience but it is 100% worth it. Even since my interview, the staff here have been nothing but supportive and kind, and even though an apprenticeship isn’t always easy, the people around you will support you every step of the way. So, if you’re thinking of taking the leap, I most definitely encourage you to do so.
