We’ve arrived at a pivotal moment for the motorcar. Many of the big manufacturers now offer all-electric options, with a mileage range and price to suit most people’s needs.

And now MINI Electric is here, you can make the switch to electric without losing any of the things you love about MINI.

Switching to Electric is a lot easier than many people think and has a lot more benefits than driving a conventional diesel or petrol vehicle - from the obvious environmental ones to the many financial benefits also available.

At Lloyd Motor Group, we have lived and breathed MINI Electric since it's launch earlier this year and we'd like to share everything we know and love about the MINI Electric in one place. This means, if you are thinking about going electric, the decision is made even easier and all of your questions are answered!

OUR TOP SEVEN REASONS TO GO MINI ELECTRIC:

1. ELECTRIC COSTS ARE LESS.

No matter how often you have to fill up, consider this. The cost of electricity can be up to two thirds less than what you’re paying for petrol or diesel. When it comes to cost per mile, the news gets even better. Compared to a traditional petrol or diesel car, going fully electric could cut costs by up to three quarters or more. And, as many energy providers now offer electric vehicle-specific tariffs at a reduced rate, your running costs could get even lower.

2. CLEANER MEANS GREENER.

Are you ready to bid farewell to traditional fuels and start living a little greener? With zero exhaust emissions, you’re creating less pollution as you drive.

3. LOW MAINTENANCE MILES.

An electric car motor is less complex than a combustion engine. And because there are fewer moving parts, it means there’s less wear and tear, so maintenance can be kept to a minimum. When it’s time for a service, we can help you keep the costs down too with our simple monthly payment plans.

4. FILL UP AT HOME.

With MINI Electric, you'll wake up every morning raring to go. Just plug into a standard home socket overnight to recharge the battery while you’re sleeping. If you want more efficient charging, we recommend installing a Wallbox at home.

5. SMOOTHER, QUICKER, QUIETER.

One of the first things you notice when driving an electric car is how calm it feels inside. With no noise from the engine, you feel more relaxed and connected to the world outside. Without the need to change gear, accelerating feels smooth and effortless with instant torque from the electric motor. And when you put your foot down, there’s an immediate response and surge of speed that makes an electric vehicle ideal for city driving.

6. SAVE MORE WITH A GOVERNMENT GRANT.

MINI Electric has been given a Category 1 rating by the government, which means you can receive a £3,000 grant towards the purchase price. Plus, if you’re buying a MINI Electric for your business, there’s a BIK rate of 0% from April 2020.

7. ZERO EMISSIONS MEANS ZERO VED.

As electric vehicles produce no emissions, they are exempt from Vehicle Emissions Duty (VED). In London, they are also exempt from the congestion charge, as long as drivers apply for the 100% discount. And exempt from the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) too.

CHARGING THE MINI ELECTRIC

With a full charge, MINI Electric delivers up to 145 miles. And because most charges can happen when your car is at home, keeping it topped up every day is easy.

Simply plug into a wallbox and your MINI Electric will be fully charged in just over three hours. Or if there isn’t a wallbox handy, just plug it into any standard home socket.

ELECTRIC CAR CHARGING POINTS.

Charging MINI Electric is just as easy on the go. The UK network of public charging points is growing every day. And MINI Navigation will plan your route taking into account the 9,000+ charging points already available across the UK.

As we’re partnered with BP Chargemaster, MINI Electric drivers can charge up easily at over 7,000 public charging points using both AC and Rapid DC chargers.

If you have off-street parking, you could also qualify for the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS)². The grant pays 75% towards the cost and installation of a Wallbox charger in your home (up to a maximum of £350).

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO CHARGE AN ELECTRIC CAR.

MINI Electric makes your money go further too. At just 4p per mile, it’s around 2.5 to 6 times cheaper than driving petrol or diesel.**
Unlike some electric cars, MINI Electric's battery is included in the price of the car. And we're so confident about our technology we offer a warranty of 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever you reach first.

WORKPLACE CHARGING.

The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a government-funded scheme that helps to reduce the purchase and installation cost of workplace charging stations significantly. Find out how your company can apply.

FINANCIAL INCENTIVES AVAILABLE WHEN YOU GO MINI ELECTRIC

To help you make the switch to electric, the government is taking thousands off of retail prices with an automatic grant.
