EXTERIOR

The new Tiguan's design language is a decisive step forward. Where its predecessor was handsome but conservative, this third-generation car carries a sharper, more sculpted face — defined by slim matrix LED headlights, a full-width illuminated grille bar on higher trims, and deeply chiselled body surfacing that catches the light in a way no photograph quite captures.

The silhouette is unmistakably SUV — tall, square-shouldered and authoritative — but the details reward closer inspection. The flush door handles, the subtle body-coloured bumpers of the Style trim, the 20-inch alloys of the R-Line: every element is considered, nothing is arbitrary. The Lightline — an illuminated strip connecting the headlamps across the front — gives higher-spec Tiguans a signature after-dark identity that's instantly recognisable.

Available in a range of premium metallic finishes, and with R-Line's sport bumpers giving a more muscular stance, the Tiguan rewards you with a car that looks as good on the school run as it does parked at the summit of Honister Pass.

INTERIOR
A Cabin Worthy of Admiration.
Step inside the new Tiguan and the step-change in quality is immediately apparent. Volkswagen has given this SUV an interior that genuinely rivals premium German alternatives at much higher price points. The dashboard is wide, sculpted and beautifully assembled — with soft-touch surfaces, flush-fitting screens and a sense of craftsmanship that you'll appreciate on day one and every day after.

A 12.9-inch touchscreen dominates the centre console, flanked by a fully digital instrument cluster ahead of the driver. The infotainment system is Volkswagen's most advanced yet — fast, intuitive and responsive in a way that previous systems rarely were. Climate controls sit at the base of the touchscreen on touch-sensitive sliders, while a rotary controller on the lower console handles drive modes, audio volume and ambient lighting — familiar enough to feel effortless.

The rear of the cabin is where the Tiguan truly earns its family credentials. The sliding rear bench — a standard feature — lets you prioritise legroom or boot space at will. Three adults sit comfortably abreast with genuine headroom. And that 652-litre boot is one of the largest in the class, rivalling SUVs from a segment above.

TECHNOLOGY
The new Tiguan's technology package is one of the most comprehensive offered by any mid-size SUV. Volkswagen has equipped it with a suite of driver assistance, connectivity and safety systems that genuinely reduce stress and increase confidence — particularly on the varied road conditions you'll encounter across Cumbria.

Every Tiguan leaves the factory with autonomous emergency braking, lane assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver fatigue alert system as standard equipment. On Life and above, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function is included — maintaining your chosen speed and distance from the car ahead automatically, even in motorway queues.

The eHybrid models add a further dimension: an electric-only driving mode that can deliver up to 75 miles of zero-emission motoring — more than enough for most daily journeys in the region. A thermal management system optimises battery temperature to preserve range even in Cumbria's colder months, meaning the electric range remains usable year-round.
