Retailer Accountant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Retailer Accountant to join our Lloyd BMW, MINI, Motorrad and BYD centres based in Blackpool.

As the Retailer Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations across one or more dealership sites. Reporting to the Head of Business, you will ensure the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and provide insightful analysis to support business performance and decision-making.

Hours: 40 hours per week

Role Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations within agreed deadlines
• Monitor departmental performance, providing detailed financial reporting, variance analysis and commentary to management
• Ensure compliance with manufacturer and group reporting requirements
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations and integration within the wider business
• Oversee and manage vehicle funding and stocking plan reconciliations
• Manage the accrual and reconciliation of manufacturer bonus and incentives
• Collaborate with departmental managers to set, monitor and control budgets
• Manage site VAT return information and other ad-hoc statutory submissions as appropriate
• Liaise with, and manage the provision of required material to external auditors
• Ensure the accurate and timely submission of payroll information along with the reconciliation and positing of payroll journals
• Oversee daily and formal month end bank reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and wider company policies
• Maintain and improve internal controls and processes, working closely with departmental managers to improve financial performance
• Use and optimise the Keyloop Autoline system for reporting and operational efficiency
• Supervise and support both the accounts and vehicle administration teams

The ideal candidate will have the following skills/attributes:

• Previous experience in a Retailer Accountant role.
• ACA, CIMA or ACCA qualified or working towards is desirable.
• Experience of working within the motor industry in an accounting role is desirable.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, with clear abilities in using Excel.
• Organised and accurate with an ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
• A great team player, showing excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A positive, commercially aware, can-do attitude with a proven ability to lead a team is essential.
• Confidentiality and discretion are a must.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
