1976
Lloyd Motor Group is founded
The journey begins. In 1976, Lloyd Motor Group opened its doors with a simple but powerful vision: to provide exceptional service and deliver premium automotive experiences to our local communities.
1980s
Expansion of dealerships into Carlisle
During a period of significant growth, we opened new regional locations and partnered with iconic global brands to offer an unmatched premium vehicle selection.
1990s
Growth into the North East and new premium brand partnerships
Added Land Rover and Rover to our franchises, and expanded wth the Volvo franchise in Carlisle, and our BMW franchise in Newcastle.
2000s
Further Expansion across Cumbria and Lancashire
We opened Jaguar, Honda Motorcycles and Saab in Cumbria, along with BMW and MINI in Colne
2010s
Strengthened existing partnerships and increased Lloyd brands
Added futher JLR retail centres in Kelso and Ripon, along with Lloyd Premium Cars in Blackpool and Lloyd Used Car Centre in Carlisle, and added a new brand to the portfolio with Kia Carlisle.
2020s
Continued growth with premium manufacturers across Northern England
We continued to strengthen our ties with existing partners, welcoming JLR sites in York and across the North East, adding further Kia and Volvo centres in Cumbria, and bringing BMW Motorrad to Blackpool, and BMW and MINI into North Tyneside. Alongside this, we broadened our portfolio into new territory, taking on INEOS Grenadier, Volkswagen, Škoda, BYD, Geely franchises across our sites in Cumbria, Lancashire and the North East.
