Can you tell us about your career journey with us, from where you started to how you got to where you are today?
"I began my career in the motor trade as a mystery shopper for car dealerships across the North West of England and Southern Scotland. This unique experience gave me valuable insights into customer service and dealership operations. I then started my journey at Lloyd as a Service Advisor for the Honda brand. At that time, the dealership was just beginning to develop the Used Car Centre, and I played my role in helping with the aftersales side of that business too. Over the years, I've witnessed and contributed to two major renovations and a transition from Honda to the Kia brand we proudly represent today. I've always had a passion for cars, having restored a Morris Minor 1000 Traveller and replaced the engine on an MG Midget when I was younger. Over the years, I have helped customers with their vehicle maintenance and repair needs, which really helped me get a solid understanding of the technical aspects of vehicle servicing. Recently, I transitioned to the Parts Department, where I now manage orders for our workshop as well as retail and trade customers. Over the past 10 years, my journey has been marked by continuous learning and growth, and I'm excited to bring my experience and knowledge to my new role."
What do you enjoy most about working for Lloyd Kia Carlisle?
"What I enjoy most about working for Lloyd Kia Carlisle is the supportive and collaborative environment. The team here is like a family, and we all work together to provide the best possible service to our customers. I also appreciate the opportunities for professional development and the chance to take on new challenges, such as my recent move to the Parts Department. It's rewarding to be part of a company that values its employees and encourages growth."
What achievement are you most proud of over the past 10 years? Is there a particular highlight?
"While I can't pinpoint a single notable achievement or highlight off the top of my head, the moments that stand out to me are when I get to call a customer and tell them their car is fixed after a breakdown. The relief and gratitude in their voice always remind me why I love what I do. These interactions are a constant source of joy and fulfilment, as they embody the essence of customer service and the positive impact we can have on people's lives."
How has your approach to customer service evolved throughout your career?
"My approach to customer service has evolved to become more proactive and personalised. As a Service Advisor, I learnt the importance of listening to customers and addressing their concerns promptly. In my current role in the Parts Department, I focus on ensuring that we have the right parts available when needed, which directly impacts our ability to provide timely service. I have also embraced technology to improve communication and efficiency, ensuring that our customers receive the best possible experience."
Any advice you’d give to someone just starting out in the Motor Trade?
"My advice is to be patient and open to learning. The industry can be complex, but with dedication and a willingness to ask questions, you can quickly gain valuable knowledge. Build strong relationships with your colleagues and customers, as these connections will be crucial to your success. Stay curious, keep up with industry trends, and never stop seeking opportunities for professional development."
What’s a fun fact about you that your colleagues might not know?
"Last Christmas, I played the Dame version of Mrs. Doasyouwouldbedoneby and Mrs. Bedonebyasyoudid in a pantomime adaptation of Charles Kingsley's children's story "The Water-Babies." It was an incredibly fun and memorable experience, and I loved bringing laughter and joy to the audience. It also gave me the chance to showcase my theatrical side, which is something I don't often get to do in my day-to-day work."
On behalf of the Lloyd Motor Group team we would like to congratulate Mark on this incredible milestone and thank him for his continued commitment and passion to his trade. Lloyd Kia Carlisle would not be the same without him.
