Meet Jake Aston, Sales Manager at Lloyd Premium Cars

Someone who has been promoted recently who we’d like to shine a light on is Jake Ashton, who has moved from his Retail Sales Manager role at Lloyd Blackpool MINI to Sales Manager at Lloyd Premium Cars.
To find out a bit more about Jake and his journey, we asked him a few questions about himself, his role, and what advice he would give to anyone thinking about a career in the motor industry.
Hi Jake! Tell us a bit about your career her at Lloyd.
I started my career at Lloyd Blackpool BMW in 2015 as a BMW Product Genius which was such a great job meeting customers and handing over their new car! In January 2017 I started as a Sales Exec in MINI and progressed to Retail Sales Manager in 2020 and In April 2023 Promoted to Manager of Lloyd Premium Cars Blackpool.
Tell us a bit about your background.
From the age of 15 I worked for a photography company, photographing people to horses even photographed the queen and her horses! Then I went to Lancaster Uni and got my degree in IT Architecture and from there started my career with the Lloyd Group. I’ve never looked back!
Why did you want to work for Lloyd Motor Group?
I have bought cars from Lloyd Group for many years and everyone from sales to aftersales was always so happy and eager to help and I have always thought what a great place to work. When I finished university in 2015 it seemed a natural step for me, I have an interest in cars and I was approached when in the showroom and it was the best thing I ever did… Eight years on I’m still loving every day. It really is a great place to be.
Talk us through a typical day in your role.
No day is ever the same, which is what I love about the job! My usual day however is a morning meeting with my team to see what enquiries and customers we are currently on with, Buying cars for the retailer, dealing with customers, helping people get their dream car and coaching and improving my team.
What advice would you give to someone looking to start their career in the motor industry?
Just go for it, it is the best job in the world in my opinion, but what you put in is what you get out of it.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
In my spare time I enjoy walks with my girlfriend and our two sausage dogs, shopping and eating out!
