Lloyd BYD Carlisle Strengthens Strategic Partnership with Cumbria Tourism

Lloyd BYD Carlisle is proud to continue strengthening its strategic partnership with local Visitor Economy Partnership, Cumbria Tourism, reinforcing a shared commitment to sustainable travel and low-carbon mobility across the region.
For the past six months, the Cumbria Tourism team have been travelling across the county in the all-electric BYD ATTO 3. Building on this, they have now transitioned into the new BYD ATTO 2, marking the latest milestone in a partnership focused on showcasing the real-world benefits of electric vehicle use in a rural environment.
As electric vehicles become increasingly affordable and accessible, the Cumbria Tourism team are embracing the opportunity to lead by example, demonstrating how cleaner, greener travel is not only achievable, but practical for both businesses and individuals operating across the region.

With its advanced all-electric design, the BYD ATTO 2 is ideally suited to support Cumbria Tourism’s mission of promoting sustainable and responsible travel. Its long-range capability, efficient performance and low-emission footprint align closely with Cumbria’s focus on reducing carbon impact while encouraging greener travel choices for visitors and local organisations alike.
Gill Haigh, Managing Director of Cumbria Tourism, commented:
“It’s fantastic to continue building on our partnership with Lloyd Motor Group and get behind the wheel of the fully electric BYD ATTO 2. We’re proud to lead by example and show that low-carbon travel works for Cumbria. Our latest visitor survey shows that the proportion of visitors arriving by electric or hybrid vehicle has risen from 8.5% in 2022 to 14.7% in 2025, underlining just how quickly attitudes are changing. As EVs become more affordable, this presents a real opportunity to encourage even more people to think differently about how they travel.”
As the partnership continues, we will follow Cumbria Tourism’s electric journey with the ATTO 2, sharing updates as they use the vehicle to support tourism businesses and visitor economy across the county.
