Six Months on the Road with the BYD ATTO 3

Six months ago, Lloyd BYD Carlisle proudly partnered with Cumbria Tourism to support their day-to-day operations with a fully electric BYD ATTO 3.

Since then, the vehicle has travelled more than 3,000 miles across the county, enabling the team to connect with local businesses, attend key events and support partners throughout Cumbria. From motorways to rural and urban roads — and in all conditions including heavy rain, winter weather and snow — the ATTO 3 has proven to be a capable and reliable companion.

We caught up with the team to hear how the experience has been so far…

Day-to-day use

"The ATTO 3 has simply become part of how we work. It’s been used for regular journeys between places like Carlisle, Penrith, Windermere and Barrow, as well as trips into more rural areas. Reliability and ease of use matter most for us, and the vehicle has fitted easily into our working routine."


 

Using an EV in Cumbria

"One of the key benefits of this partnership was to be given the opportunity understand what using an electric vehicle looks like in a rural county. Charging has been straightforward, helped by the EV charging points at our Staveley office and the wider public network. Range wasn’t a concern, the ATTO 3 has a great range and has suited our needs perfectly. Using the car regularly has helped build confidence and provided us with practical experience we can share with businesses considering electric vehicles."

"Using an electric vehicle supports our aim to reduce our own carbon footprint and lead by example. Alongside our car-sharing policy and other sustainability measures, it allows us to talk about low-carbon travel from direct experience, not theory."

Looking ahead

"After six months and more than 3,000 miles, the ATTO 3 has shown how an electric vehicle can work in practice for everyday travel across Cumbria. We look forward to exploring further as our partnership continues."
