How has your role evolved since you first started at Cobalt Park?
I first joined the team on a graduate management scheme which helped me learn a number of different aspects of the business. I had a year at Mini Tyneside as a business manager (now also part of the Lloyd group) and then returned to JLR Newcastle just 1 month before the exciting move to the dual arch site. While the environment we work in has changed - the job very much remains the same delivering first class service to our customers.

In your view, what sets JLR apart from other luxury automotive brands?
The obvious difference with the JLR brand would be the offroad capability present across all models which in my opinion inspires confidence and is the unique selling point. The brand offers a car for everyone in the 'SUV' segment but I would say especially with the Range Rover family line, they remain an aspirational purchase for most and a status purchase. It's a car people want to be seen in.

Which vehicle launch or moment over the past 10 years stands out as a personal or professional highlight for you?
This is an easy one to answer. I have always grown up with Land Rover's in my family and we always had the original Defender. You could say it's in my blood so when the All-New Defender was launched back in 2019 - I was super excited.  The two-day launch event down as Eastnor Castle exceeded all of my expectations. They demonstrated all of the cars immense offroad capability while also showcasing how usable it would subsequently become in day-to-day life. The car has gone from strength to strength - I liked the car so much so, I bought one myself last year.

Who has been a mentor or source of inspiration for you during your time here?
I would say we have been very lucky to have had three great Head of Business's here at Newcastle in my 10 years with the company. While all have been very different to work under, they have been supportive, approachable and offered advice and guidance along the way.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to any new sales exec?
Fastest finger first on the telephone, warn your partner you might sometimes be late home and always be nice to customers.

On behalf of the Lloyd Motor Group team, we would like to congratulate Tom on this incredible milestone and thank him for his continued hard work, dedication and positive attitude. We’re proud to have him as part of the team!
