A Decade of Dedication: Alan Celebrates 10 Years!

This month at Lloyd Volvo , we celebrate Alan Simpson's 10th anniversary working for Lloyd Motor Group.

Over the past decade with us, Alan has built a wealth of industry knowledge in his role as Sales Executive. He really knows the ins and outs of the business and his ability to connect with people and offer smart, reliable guidance has made him a key part of our team’s success!

Read on to hear about his Lloyd Volvo South Lakes journey so far...

Hello Alan, Can you tell us about your career journey with us, from where you started to how you got to where you are today? 

"I started working in the motor trade after 22 years as a Manager in the Dairy Industry. Redundancy forced an new opportunity...three weeks later I began selling cars. It was the best thing to have happened to me! If there is such thing as Luck then it came then. 10 years ago, I was working at another dealership when a call came out of the blue from a mutual friend who told me of a Sales Executive job available. It was called PV Dobsons, a local Family Business who had Volvo and Jaguar,  and Jaguar wanted PV Dobson to open Sunday and needed an extra Sales Executive so there I was. The next bit of luck happened as Lloyd Motor Group took over the dealership and we have now seen the deaership grow to the next levell!"

What has been your standout career highlight from the past 10 years?  

"The pleasure for me is when customers re-order their next car with me."

What do you enjoy most about working at Lloyd Volvo South Lakes?  

"The best thing about working at Lloyd is the team that work here, and the team going right up to Sam Lloyd. I could not ask for anyone better to work for."

Can you talk us through a typical day in your role as Sales Executive?

"I work in a team with three Sales Executives and we all work closely and really help each other; It makes it a pleasure working closely with colleagues that care about you. This reflects on the customers as well as that see this."


What is one piece of advice would you give someone looking to start their career as a Sales Executive?

"It can get tough but stick with it as the rewards are worth it!"


What’s your favourite way to spend an evening after work?  

"Outside of work, I enjoy walking with my wife Sandra and my scottie dog called Honey, as well as relaxing at home and playing guitar."
