Cumbria Tourism plugs-in to Hybrid

Company News

Following the success of Cumbria Tourism’s Electric Vehicle Tour, paired with an all-electric BMW iX from Lloyd Motor Group in September, we are delighted to extend our partnership on a long-term basis, to help highlight the benefits of adopting more eco-friendly vehicles for businesses throughout the county.

Earlier this month, we became Cumbria Tourism’s latest strategic partner, with a vehicle handover at Lloyd South Lakes Volvo, our latest acquisition in Levens, near Kendal.

Our Head of Business, Mark Smith, met with Cumbria Tourism’s managing director Gill Haigh, who collected the Volvo XC60 T8 Recharge, which features the latest plug-in hybrid technology.

Ms Haigh said: “Our strategic partners are a group of influential, like-minded organisations who want to get behind us, to share their collective expertise and values, and to champion the delivery of effective destination marketing and sustainable tourism for the county.

“We’re delighted to welcome Lloyd Motor Group, with their expertise in the automotive industry and electric and hybrids, as our latest Strategic Partner. We can’t wait to test the various electric and hybrid vehicles that sit under the Lloyd Motor Group name and share our experiences of going green along the way with member businesses, visitors and key stakeholders.”

Sam Lloyd, Managing Director of Lloyd Motor Group, said: “We are very excited to start this long-term partnership with Cumbria Tourism. As we look towards environmentally sustainable mobility, the latest developments and advancements in electric vehicle technology are important topics for everyone”.

“We are proud to represent some of the world’s leading automotive manufacturers, and this is an excellent opportunity to share our knowledge and experience with electric vehicles.”

All companies are looking to the future and learning how to become more sustainable. Volvo Cars are no exception, and aim to be climate neutral by 2040. Today, all their cars have a plug-in hybrid version and they plan to become a fully electric car company by 2030.

Keep an eye out for the XC60 and the Cumbria Tourism team. Last week saw them touring around Cumbria, visiting Bowness, Langdale, Borrowdale, Carlisle and Sedburgh. If you spot them out and about, they would love to say hi and share their thoughts with honest feedback on the car and how they are finding the plug-in hybrid technology.
