Meet Jamie, our MINI Brand Manager at Lloyd Carlisle!
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
“I’m Jamie, the MINI Brand Manager at Lloyd Carlisle. I started working for Lloyd Motor Group in 2011 straight out of school! I love motorbikes, food, music and my dog Bernie. (Also, my Fiancé!)”.
Tell us about your career journey – how did you work your way up to where you are now?
“I was lucky to be offered a chance as a trainee at the age of 18, something which the company does an amazing job of offering to the next generation to this day. I started off taking photographs of cars, helping with preparation and ‘behind the scenes’ sort of things, before moving in to a trainee sales role, then on to a MINI Sales Executive. I did leave the company (temporarily) but quickly came to my senses after a couple of years, where I returned as a Sales Executive, moving then in to a Used Car Sales Manager position and finally on to the Brand Manager role I do today. This was my dream job when I started as an 18-year-old, so I am quite literally living the dream! ”
What advice would you give someone wanting to start their career in the automotive industry?
“My best advice for anyone joining the industry would be to have an open mind. The industry is light years ahead of where it was 20 years ago, ram-packed with incredible minds to learn from. It is a great career for anyone passionate about people and performance. Lastly, you get out what you put in! ”
What is your favourite part about your current role?
“I absolutely adore my Team, the spirit and comradery makes for a really rewarding and fun workspace. I love it and I have no doubt our customers notice it and love it too”.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
“I am a very competitive and ambitious person, so my 18-year-old dreams have changed over the past decade or so. I would love an opportunity to Head one of the Lloyd businesses in the future. That, and perfect a home cooked pizza! ”
