Lydia is one of many of our team members who started out as a Vehicle Progressor, which involves controlling our new and used car online forecourt, getting our vehicles through the preparation stage, taking photographs, writing descriptions for our website and much more. The role offers the opportunity to learn a variety of different skills that are transferrable to many different positions within the business, and has been a fantastic starting point for many of our staff members who have moved on to other roles … just like Lydia!

Tell us a bit about yourself!

"I’m Lydia, I’m 23 years old, I’m from Carlisle and I’m currently working as a Sales Executive at Lloyd Volvo in Carlisle! Outside of work, you’ll find me spending time with friends and family, trying out a new restaurant with my other half or cosied up on the sofa watching a movie! My favourite thing to do is travel, I love exploring new places. Our next trip is Krakow at the end of April!"

Tell us about your career journey at Lloyd Motor Group

"I started my journey with Lloyd Motor Group at Lloyd BMW and MINI in Carlisle as a Vehicle Progressor/Digital Merchandiser in 2022. I have an interest in cars myself and had heard that Lloyd Motor Group was a brilliant company to work for. This proved to be true and I have really enjoyed my journey so far! I loved this job, I had a brilliant boss and worked with some great people who I have remained friends with to this day. I worked at Lloyd BMW just shy of a year before I decided that I was ready to progress into sales, which had been my aim since originally applying to work for Lloyd Motor Group. This is when I applied for the sales role within Lloyd Volvo in Carlisle and managed to get the job!"

What transferrable skills did you learn as a Vehicle Progressor that have helped you in your current role?

"Skills I learned in my previous role help me every day in my current sales role. I experienced the workings of the sales side from behind the scenes, so I understand how things work on the website and different processes such as preparation. I can accurately appraise a car, as this was something I did daily as a vehicle progressor and I met a lot of people whilst working in my previous role which aids me when preparing cars well and on time for our customers! Product knowledge is also a massive one that helps me day-to-day. Knowing your product well help enormously in sales, and it’s nice to feel confident in what you’re talking about!"

What is your favourite part about your current role?

"My favourite part about my current role is the customers, you meet many people every day and each customer is different. My customers have shared some amazing stories and experiences with me, speaking to new people never gets boring! The best part about my journey with each customer is finding them a car that they love and are excited about. There is nothing better than the look on a customer’s face when they drive away in their new car for the first time!"

Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

"In 5 years’ time, I hope to be a well-established sales person who is good at their job and I hope to be known for going above and beyond for my customers".

Tell us 2 truths and a lie about yourself!

  1. "I’m a fully-qualified teaching assistant"
  2. "I’m a twin"
  3. "My favourite food is broccoli"
