Tell us a bit about your career here at Lloyd Motor Group.

"I started with Lloyd BMW 26 years ago at the age of 18 in the valet bay. I’ve worked throughout the dealership in various roles, including Parts Advisor, Service Advisor, MINI Sales, BMW Sales, BMW New Car Sales Manager and recently taking up my new position in Lloyd Cockermouth as General Sales Manager.

Having had the opportunity to work in different roles it has given me a great understanding of how each department works and how they ultimately work together to provide the highest experience for our customers.

I’m very proud to work for a group that is constantly recognised for delivering exceptional customer service and BMW is a very exciting brand to be involved with, their ever evolving models and cutting edge technology set us apart from any competition."

What are you excited for over the next 12 months at Lloyd Cockermouth BMW?

"I’m looking forward to working with the new team here at Cockermouth and getting to know our very loyal customers. We are fortunate to be located in such fantastic part of the country in a great market town serving our customers in West Cumbria and beyond.

BMW are introducing an exciting number of models in 2026 with the new BMW iX3 coming in March setting the level of next generation design and electric car technology, I’m lucky to have a great team around me and I’m looking forward to sharing my industry experience with them."

David Hemingbrough - Retail Sales Manager

What advice would you give to people who are just starting out on a career in the Motor Trade?

"My advice for anyone starting out in the motor trade is to focus on building trust, with your colleagues, your managers, and especially your customers. This industry runs on relationships and reputation. Spend time learning every part of the dealership. Valeting, parts, service, sales, admin, and accounts. Everything is connected and understanding how each area works will make you a more rounded professional. Watch how top performers operate. Ask questions, learn how they build lasting relationships with customers, and find out what daily habits make them successful. Remember that your reputation will follow you throughout your career. Be reliable, honest, and professional. Own your mistakes and learn from them."

What has been your career highlight with us so far?

"My career highlight has been working with sales people. Especially those new to the industry and helping them reach their full potential. I take great pride in coaching and supporting individuals as they build their confidence, develop their skills, and grow into successful sales professionals. Seeing someone progress from being unsure of themselves to becoming a top performer, or even stepping into management is incredibly rewarding. Knowing I’ve played a part in their journey and success is something that makes this job special."
 

Richard Carter - Retail Sales Manager

What has been a career highlight or standout moment for you so far during your time at Lloyd Motor Group?

Moving from MINI to BMW department. Initially I was a bit apprehensive but looking back it’s the best career move I’ve ever done. 

What’s one place you haven’t been to yet that’s at the top of your travel bucket list?

I’m a big NFL fan and have been to several London games but the dream would be to travel to USA see my favourite team the Pittsburgh Steelers in their home stadium and soak up the atmosphere of all the local fanatics.

Meet Cristina, our Customer Relations Manager

Cristina is our Customer Relations Manager. She plays a pivotal part in our day-to-day running’s at Lloyd Cockermouth BMW and making sure we provide the very best customer experience.

Can you talk us through a typical day in your role as Customer Relations Manager at Lloyd BMW MINI Cockermouth?

“My day always starts with our morning meeting to catch up with the team and plan the day ahead. After that, I’ll check eMaster for any new opportunities and allocate early settlement requests or end-of-term reviews to the sales team. I also extract the service customer data and share it with the team to identify future opportunities.
FCA compliance is a big part of my role, so I make sure I stay on top of the audit process every day. Mondays tend to be my busiest day, with a lot of reporting to complete — including Voice of the Customer updates, run rates, data capture checks, and training reports.
Alongside that, I organise events within the dealership, maintain our sponsorships, support the reception rota, and ensure our processes are followed to the highest standard. Every day is different, and I really enjoy the variety my role brings!”

What’s one thing on your bucket list that you really want to do?

“I would love to travel across Japan — from the bright lights of Tokyo to the peaceful temples of Kyoto. The mix of modern and traditional culture really fascinates me, and the food would be an added bonus!”

Jackson Holliday - Sales Executive & Business Specialist

Talk us through a typical day in your role.

"A typical day in my role as a BMW Sales Executive starts with reviewing my diary and preparing for any appointments or test drives scheduled for the day. I check my emails and the diary to follow up on any leads, customer enquiries, or finance applications that are in progress.
Once the showroom opens, we all make sure the display cars are clean, well-presented, and with updated product information. First impressions are key, especially with a premium brand like BMW.

Throughout the day, I engage with customers, understand their needs, and match them to the right BMW model — highlighting performance and lifestyle benefits. I also arrange and conduct test drives, explain finance and insurance options, and handle negotiations to close sales.
Between appointments, I contact existing customers for renewal opportunities, follow up with prospects from previous visits.

At the end of the day, I plan the next day’s activities to ensure I stay on top of leads and targets. It’s a fast-paced, customer-focused role, but it’s very rewarding to see customers drive away happy in their new BMW."

What do you think is the most important quality for success as a Sales Executive?

"I believe the most important quality for success is building genuine relationships through trust and personalized service. BMW customers expect not only a premium vehicle, but also a premium experience — one that reflects the brand’s values of performance, innovation, and excellence.
To achieve that, a Sales Executive must listen carefully to each customer’s needs, understand their lifestyle and preferences, and guide them to the right solution with confidence. When customers feel understood and valued, they’re far more likely to trust your advice and remain loyal to the brand.
Of course, product knowledge, passion for BMW, and strong communication skills are essential, but it all starts with trust — that’s what turns a one-time buyer into a lifelong BMW customer."
 

Fiona Ismay - Sales Executive 

What’s your favourite thing about being a Sales Executive at Lloyd BMW Cockermouth?

"My favourite thing about being a sales executive here at Lloyd BMW Cockermouth is the friendly team environment and the feeling of personal appreciation. We're a family run business and that cullture of belonging can certainly be found here in Cockermouth" 

What’s your favourite way to spend an evening after work?

After work, weather permitting, you will find me in my garden, I usually don’t stray much further than this but now that summer is firmly in the rearview, I'll be spending more of my evenings catching up with friends and loved ones.
 

Keaton Truby - Sales Executive

What advice would you give to people who are just starting out on a career in the motor trade?

"Be as confident as you can be, you don't need to know everything about cars to be in the motor trade, just have the right attitude and mindset to be the best at what you do and you'll succeed."

What's your favourite hobby or activity outside of work?

"
Fell walking! I love getting out with my dogs on the weekend and getting outside as much as I can. Lucky to be living in such a nice part of the world with amazing views and lots of places to explore."

What makes you proud to be part of the Sales team at Lloyd Cockermouth?

Representing such a premium brand and group! Lloyd Group has a long history with BMW and it is great to see we have built a really strong reputation in our local area that means year after year we have customers coming back to see us knowing they will be looked after properly. Makes you proud to represent both BMW and the Lloyd Group name!

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone new to the industry?

Learn as much as you can from everyone around you! We work with some really knowledgeable and experienced people and everyone has their own way of doing things, listen and absorb as much as you can, take the bits you like and try and incorporate them in to your own way of working. Be a sponge but don’t be afraid to make it your own!
