A Milestone of Commitment: Ryan Da’Bell Marks 10 Years

Tell us a bit about your career here at Lloyd Motor Group. 

"I started here at Lloyd South Lakes BMW back in 2015 as a Sales Executive; I had been in sales before but never car sales. In my previous job, I used to drive past the dealership on my way to and from work and I would always say to myself, I will work there one day. Thankfully, I eventually managed to get the role as Sales Executive in BMW. I loved selling cars as a Sales Executive, building lasting relationships and handing over these amazing cars to customers, but I had always wanted to progress further within Lloyd South Lakes BMW.

Move forward 5 years, I was promoted to Retail Sales Manager for BMW, a role that I really enjoyed with deal stacking and second facing of customers, this role really allowed me to learn a lot about the business of selling cars. A year later, I was again promoted to Used Car Sales Manager, a role I hold to this day. I generally love every part of my job, buying used cars, creating relationships with our buyers so that we have access to the best used car stock, locating cars for customers should we not have the right car in stock but most importantly it’s our team, I work with some of the best people anyone could ask for."

Talk us through a typical day in your role. 

"I don’t have a typical day which is something I love about my role to be honest. No day is exactly the same. Everyday brings something different and I can quite honestly say that the saying, you learn something new every day, is definitely true."

What advice would you give to people who are just starting out on a career in the motor trade?

"Don’t be afraid to ask questions and take every opportunity you can. There are so many people with vast amounts of knowledge and expertise that are always willing to help so take full advantage of it!"

What is the best advice you have ever been given? 

"Two things actually, the first ‘You get out what you put in’ and the second ‘When you focus on problems, you will get more problems. When you focus on possibilities, you will have more opportunities’ I try to apply both sayings to everything I do here at Lloyd South Lakes BMW."

What is your favourite thing about working for Lloyd Motor Group?

"It’s the people! I work with everyone as part of a successful team but we are all friends too. Everyone cares and we are there for each other. Even though we spend a lot of time together in work, we still choose to spend time outside of work as mates."

How does Lloyd differ to anywhere else that you may have already worked?

"It’s the sense of unity and togetherness that everyone here has. It’s also the supportive environment that allows you to reach your goals and encourages you to progress further."

What do you enjoy most about the brands you represent?

"It’s the passion and enthusiasm that surrounds BMW. I love everything about the brand and it’s amazing feeling to see customers faces when they are collecting the new BMW for the first time, there is a reason BMW say ‘It’s the Ultimate Driving Machine’"

What has been your career highlight with us so far?

"To be fair, there have been quite a few highlights in my time here at Lloyd South Lakes BMW, but if I had to pick one it would be being promoted to Used Car Sales Manager. It’s great to get the recognition for all my hard work over the years and to be trusted to hold such an important role within the business, it means a lot to me."

Finally, what’s in your top drawer?

"The essentials to selling cars of course, lots of instant coffee and Haribo sweets!"
