Lloyd Motor Group Acquires Telford Škoda
Family-owned automotive retailer adds established Škoda franchise to growing portfolio, ensuring continuity of service for local customers.
Lloyd Motor Group, one of North England's leading automotive retailers, has announced the acquisition of Telford Škoda, a well-established and respected family business that has served the local community for 25 years. This strategic acquisition marks Lloyd Motor Group's first partnership with Škoda and represents a significant addition to the company's expanding franchise portfolio.
Still located on Kingstown, the dealership serves customers across Carlisle, Cumbria, and the Scottish Borders. The dealership will maintain the personal touch and community focus that have defined both businesses.
Under Lloyd Motor Group ownership, the dealership will continue to offer the complete range of Škoda vehicles, including the brand's innovative electric and hybrid models, alongside comprehensive aftersales services, maintenance, and genuine parts supply.

Škoda's Continued Success in the UK Market
The acquisition comes at an exciting time for Škoda, which has experienced remarkable growth in the UK automotive market. Škoda rounded off 2024 with a significant rise in UK registrations and a record market share, demonstrating the brand's strong appeal to British motorists.
The Czech manufacturer currently boasts one of the newest model portfolios in the industry, with 80% of its line-up either new or updated in the past 12 months. In 2024, Škoda significantly outperformed the market with 78,601 cars registered – an impressive increase of 12.3% over 2023's figure.
Škoda's SUV models continued to dominate brand registrations throughout 2024. The Karoq, the brand's best-selling model, recorded 14,648 registrations in the 12 months, while the popular Kamiq achieved 10,994 registrations, both showing strong year-on-year growth.
Škoda's flagship SUV, the Kodiaq, is leading the charge, achieving 12,447 registrations in the UK. The award-winning seven-seater SUV secured second place for overall brand registrations for the year. The second-generation Kodiaq is the first to offer a plug-in PHEV drivetrain, delivering up to 75 miles of pure electric driving range.
Škoda's acclaimed Enyaq electric car enjoyed an exceptional year with a 43.6% increase in registrations over 2023. 11,841 Enyaq SUV and Coupé models were registered by the end of 2024, making it the most successful year yet for Škoda's multi-award-winning electric vehicle. The Enyaq remains one of the top ten best-selling EVs in the UK.
Adding to Škoda's electric vehicle success story is the recently launched Elroq, the newest electric addition to the Škoda SUV family, featuring the fresh Modern Solid design language. The model offers impressive rapid charging capabilities in the Elroq 50, 60, and 85 variants. The launch demonstrates Škoda's commitment to expanding its electric vehicle portfolio, with the performance-oriented vRS variant opening for orders mid-June 2025, providing customers with even more choice in the rapidly growing EV market.
The acquisition of Telford Škoda reinforces Lloyd Motor Group's position as a leading automotive retailer across North England and Southern Scotland. It continues the company's commitment to bringing premium automotive brands and exceptional service to local communities.
