Lloyd Motor Group Expands Volkswagen Presence in Carlisle

Family-owned automotive retailer strengthens regional footprint, welcoming new colleagues and creating additional local employment opportunities.

Lloyd Motor Group has announced the acquisition of the Volkswagen dealership in Carlisle from Lookers, further strengthening its partnership with the Volkswagen brand and expanding its presence across Cumbria.

The business will be rebranded as Lloyd Volkswagen Carlisle and will continue to operate from its established location on Auchinleck Drive, Carlisle, ensuring continuity of service for customers in the area.

As part of the acquisition, 33 experienced colleagues have joined Lloyd Motor Group, supporting a seamless transition for existing customers. In addition, the company has launched an immediate recruitment drive, creating 10 new roles, with positions currently available across the business.

This latest addition means Lloyd Motor Group now represents the Volkswagen Group across three locations: Lloyd Volkswagen West Cumbria, Lloyd Škoda Carlisle, and Lloyd Volkswagen Carlisle. The expansion reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to growth, investment, and delivering exceptional customer experiences across the region.

The acquisition comes during a milestone year for Lloyd Motor Group, which is proudly celebrating its 50th anniversary, having been established in 1976. From its beginnings in Cockermouth, the business has grown into one of the UK’s leading independent automotive retailers, while maintaining its strong regional roots.

The addition of Lloyd Volkswagen Carlisle further reinforces the group’s commitment to long-term growth, continued investment in its franchise partnerships, and support for local communities across Cumbria and beyond.
