Lloyd Volkswagen West Cumbria Proudly Sponsors Local Cricket Talent
At Lloyd Volkswagen West Cumbria, we are passionate about supporting new and emerging talent within the local community, even those within our own showrooms such as our brilliant Service Advisor, Sam Sharp.
Despite being a new face to our service team, Sam has quickly established himself as an integeral Advisor amongst both collegues and customers, for providing a premium yet transparent post- sale experience. Outside of the showroom, Sam has had a keen interest for cricketing from a young age, and is now being sponsored by Lloyd in his cricketing with Kendal CC.
We caught up with him as he discussed his Lloyd journey so far and his cricketing aspirations…

Hi Sam, can you tell us about your Lloyd journey so far?
What first drew you towards a career in service?
“I have always had a love for cars, and I've always been a talkative chirpy people person, so I felt that the role of a service advisor was the perfect fit for me.”
In your opinion, what are the most important skills needed to succeed in this role?
“I feel in this role you need to have a lot of patience; you need to be honest, enthusiastic and enjoy your job. Some product knowledge would also go a long way.”
Have you taken any additional training to advance your career/what support have you received?
“I have attended multiple online courses with Volkswagen and Kia. The support I have had from all the team at Lloyd West Cumbria has been second to none, everyone has been so helpful, and the management team are always pushing to make myself better and the department.”
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
“I still hope to be in a service position, I have always aimed to progress as high up as I can, whether it be in work or sport. Eventually I would like to become a service manager of the dealership.”
Tell us what first sparked your love for cricket?
“When I was 5 years old, I lived in Threlkeld with my parents and a letter came through the door advertising that Threlkeld had plans to start up a junior cricket team. So my mum asked if we wanted to go, and I never really looked back from there.”
What position do you usually play?
“I am classed as a bowling all-rounder.”
What’s your best cricket memory or achievement?
“I would say my greatest cricket achievement would be to represent Cumbria at senior level. My greatest memory would have to be reaching the national finals for 4 years in a row. I have also been lucky enough to play in multiple different countries, I first went to India in 2017 to play out there, and I then spent 6 months playing cricket in Australia.”
If you could play a match anywhere in the world, where would it be?
“I would love to travel to South Africa and play in Cape Town,”
The Lloyd Volkswagen team are delighted to support Sam in his aspirations both in and out of our showroom and wish him the best of luck with upcoming Kendal CC competitions.
