Meet James Speakman, our new Sales Exec at Lloyd Volvo Carlisle

Company News

We are delighted to introduce James Speakman, our new Sales Executive at Lloyd Volvo Carlisle. We caught up with James to find out a bit more about him...

How long have you worked in the motor industry? If this is your first role in the motor industry, tell us about your previous jobs.

I’ve come to the motor trade after a lifetime of working in the public sector: Armed Forces (soldier), Civil Service (MoD), Police (Dispatcher at Headquarters in Penrith), and education (Assistant Head of Years 10 & 11 at a large secondary school).

What drew you to work for Lloyd Motor Group?

I heard about Lloyd Motor Group from friends who work for the Group – they were glowing in their praise for the company, so when the role at Volvo became available, I thought it was a fantastic opportunity to tackle a completely new career!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

In my spare time, I (try to) play golf, and I’m a member at Brampton Golf Club. I’m married with two teenage girls – hence my worry lines - and tend to ferry them to and from their seemingly-never-ending social functions!

Do you have any hidden talents?

My talents used to extend to performing in local theatre, before I went to University to study acting and technical theatre.

What is the best advice you have been given?

The best advice I’ve ever been given is: If you’re happy in your life now, never regret doing anything that led you there.

What is your favourite Volvo and why?

My favourite Volvo is the XC90. A beautiful beast.

Tell us 2 truths and a lie about yourself!

I use Brad Pitt’s jacket for gardening.

My Great Grandmother was Winston Churchill’s first girlfriend.

I once got stuck in a make-up trailer on the set of Emmerdale, and Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle) had to rescue me.

To meet James, or to explore the Volvo range, visit our showroom at Kingstown, Carlisle.
