There is no better way to celebrate the beginning of summer than Country Fest, and the 11th annual event didn’t disappoint. Thousands of visitors flocked to the Westmoreland County Showground at Crooklands - not letting a little bit of rain dampen their spirits as they enjoyed celebrating everything the British countryside has to offer.
In the Lloyd South Lakes Arena, Stunt Team Bolddog Lings, the UK’s top freestyle riders, wowed the crowd with their heart-stopping tricks. Elsewhere, the stunning Kite Festival entertained many and guests were given the opportunity to try out a host of trail boat activities on the canal.
In the highly anticipated Food Theatre, Cumbria’s very own BBC MasterChef 2019 winner Irini Tzortogloue topped the bill, along with the ever-popular Hipping Hall based Masterchef: The Professionals finalist Oli Martin. With cookery demonstrations from these and numerous other esteemed chefs, the theatre was packed all weekend.
Other demonstrations were just as busy, including the Fell Pony Display and marquees including Sew Crafty, Vintage Revival, WI Marquee and Floral Design provided beautiful crafts on display and opportunities to shop until you dropped - especially in the tempting Food Zone with all manner of delicious treats available to purchase.
First time exhibitors, Thriving Trolleys, presented a colourful spectacle and a great learning opportunity for youngsters with their scheme in which schools have been invited to plant, grow and nurture flowers, fruit or vegetables in a supermarket trolley.
Lloyd South Lakes enjoyed the opportunity to display some of their finest BMW & MINI models but more so to mingle with all their lovely neighbours and local folk, on a day which is not only lots of fun but also raises funds to help support local farming and the countryside.
