Meet Richard, MINI Brand Manager
Tell us a bit about your career here at Lloyd Motor Group so far.
"I got started in the motor trade over ten years ago when I first moved to Cumbria with Arnold Clark Ford. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of sales, and I joined Lloyd Motor Group 2 years later and have been in Cockermouth ever since".
What's the most rewarding part of your job at Lloyd Cockermouth MINI?
"The most rewarding part for me is leading and developing a successful team. We have introduced some great new team members to the MINI brand over the last two years, and helping them to become successful and deliver a fantastic experience to our customers is the most rewarding part of the job for me".

What advice would you give to people starting out in the motor trade?
“Be eager to learn and don’t be afraid to ask questions. The more you understand about the cars and the customers, the better you’ll do. Stay positive, work hard, and always put the customer experience first - it pays off".
What’s your favourite MINI model and why?
"My favourite model is the MINI JCW Countryman. All the MINI driving enjoyment but also thoroughly practical, and it can easily fit my clubs in!"

Meet Cristina, our Customer Relations Manager
Can you talk us through a typical day in your role?
“My day always starts with our morning meeting to catch up with the team and plan the day ahead. After that, I’ll check for any new opportunities and allocate early settlement requests or end-of-term reviews to the sales team. I also extract the customer data and share it with the team to identify future opportunities.
"FCA compliance is a big part of my role, so I make sure I stay on top of the audit process every day. Mondays tend to be my busiest day, with a lot of reporting to complete — including Voice of the Customer updates, run rates, data capture checks, and training reports.
"Alongside that, I organise events within the dealership, maintain our sponsorships, support the reception rota, and ensure our processes are followed to the highest standard. Every day is different, and I really enjoy the variety my role brings!”
What’s one thing on your bucket list that you really want to do?
“I would love to travel across Japan - from the bright lights of Tokyo to the peaceful temples of Kyoto. The mix of modern and traditional culture really fascinates me, and the food would be an added bonus!”

Kourtney - Sales Executive
Talk us through a typical day in your role.
"My day starts by preparing the showroom and checking new leads, appointments, and demo cars. I attend a morning briefing with the team to review targets and offers. Much of my time is spent responding to enquiries, following up with customers, arranging test drives, and guiding people through the MINI buying experience.
"I present the cars, highlight features during test drives, and support customers with finance options and paperwork. I may also handle car deliveries, making the handover experience enjoyable and memorable. Throughout the day, I update CRM notes, follow up on potential deals, and get ready for the next day.
"The role is fun and rewarding, with lots of customer interaction and exciting handovers".
What's one thing people might be surprised to learn about you outside of work?
"Outside of work, I really value quality time. My husband works away during the week, so when he’s home at the weekend, we make the most of our time together - whether that’s going on fun little dates, trying new places, or just enjoying each other’s company. It’s something I look forward to and it keeps me grounded".
Lydia - Sales Executive
What are you enjoying most about your role as a Sales Executive?
"I recently joined the group back in September being brand new to the trade. I have always had an interest in cars but I'm really enjoying learning new product knowledge on the MINIs and our Lloyd Select cars, as well as meeting new people and building relationships with them.
"The MINI brand has such a distinctive personality, so it’s been exciting to see how customers connect with each model in different ways. I’m also enjoying the fast-paced environment - every day brings something new, which keeps me motivated and constantly learning".
What’s your favourite MINI model and why?
"My favourite MINI is probably a JCW Convertible - I love a sporty car and even though I have never had a convertible, I have always wanted one!
What do you enjoy most about your role and working at Lloyd Cockermouth MINI?
"The thing I enjoy most about my job role is the joy on the faces of our customers when they call in to pick up their brand-new shiny cars".
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
"The best piece of advice I've received is to keep moving forward, even when the road gets rough".

"Working as part of a team and meeting new people everyday, whilst getting to work with some great cars".

Talk us through a typical day in your role.
"A typical day in my role as a MINI Sales Executive starts with reviewing my diary and preparing for any appointments or test drives scheduled for the day. I check my emails and follow up on any leads, customer enquiries, or finance applications that are currently in progress.
"Once the showroom opens, the team and I make sure all the display cars are clean, well-presented, and stocked with the latest product information. First impressions are essential, especially with a brand as iconic and characterful as MINI.
"Throughout the day, I engage with customers, get to know their lifestyle and preferences, and match them with the MINI that suits them best — whether they’re drawn to the urban practicality, or distinctive design. I arrange and conduct test drives, discuss finance and insurance options, and guide customers through the purchase process.
"Between appointments, I stay proactive by contacting existing customers about renewal opportunities and following up with prospects from earlier visits.
"At the end of the day, I plan for the next to ensure I stay organised and on top of my targets. It’s a fast-paced, customer-centric role, but it’s extremely rewarding to see customers drive away excited in their new MINI".
What do you think is the most important quality for success as a Business Specialist?
"I believe the most important quality for success is the ability to build genuine relationships through trust and personalised service. MINI customers don’t just buy a car - they buy into a fun, expressive, and highly individual brand. The experience they receive should reflect that same sense of personality and care.
"To achieve this, a Business Specialist must listen attentively, understand what each customer values, and guide them confidently toward the right MINI for their needs. When customers feel understood and appreciated, they’re much more likely to trust your recommendations and remain loyal to the brand.
"Of course, strong product knowledge, passion for MINI, and excellent communication skills are vital, but it all begins with building trust - that’s what turns a first-time buyer into a lifelong MINI fan."
