We sat down with Tom and Loyd to find out more about what they do, who they help and why businesses should consider a MINI. Keep reading to meet them!

Tell us about yourself & your career at Lloyd Carlisle MINI so far. 

"I first started with Lloyd Motor Group ten years ago as a valeter. From early on, I knew sales was where I wanted to progress, and as Lloyd Motor Group strongly promotes from within, I moved into the role of Vehicle Progressor for both MINI and BMW. In this role, I was involved in the preparation of vehicles before they reached the forecourts, ensuring they met both the brands’ and Lloyd Motor Group’s high standards.

I later left the Group to pursue sales opportunities both within the automotive industry and in high-end Hi-Fi, specialising in commercial business-to-business sales. Fast forward to now, I’ve been back with Lloyd Carlisle MINI for 10 months, and I can honestly say there isn’t a better company to work for".
 

What does a typical day at work look like for you?

"Every day is a little different, but it usually starts with arriving early, handling any immediate tasks, and planning out the day ahead. This allows me to give my full attention to customers, ensuring they receive the best and most enjoyable experience possible.

"A large part of my day is spent meeting customers, understanding their needs, and matching them with the right MINI, whether that’s new or Approved Used. I guide customers through the entire process, including product walkarounds, test drives, presenting figures, and making sure everything is clear and comfortable for them.

"The aim every day is to deliver a great experience and build long-term relationships with our customers, not just make a sale".
 

What do you love most about the MINI brand?

"The energy. There really is no other company or car manufacturer quite like MINI. There’s genuine emotion, character, and history behind the brand, which makes it incredibly special to be a part of".
 

Do you drive an All-Electric MINI? If so tell us about your experience?

"I don’t currently drive one, but I’ve spent plenty of time behind the wheel of them both at work and in a home setting. They are fantastic to drive and incredibly easy to live with. I will be getting one at the next opportunity!

Tell us one fun fact that most people don’t know about you.

"I have a sausage dog named Ernie, small in stature, but with the confidence & bark of a Rottweiler!"

Tell us about your career at Lloyd Carlisle MINI so far. 

"I've loved every minute so far! I joined at the end of January 2025 as my first role within the motor trade, and I'm starting to wonder why I didn't join sooner! The team at our Carlisle dealership is fantastic - we all look after each other and it feels like a family at work!"
 

What do you love most about your role as a Business Specialist?

"With my past 8 years of sales experience mainly being B2B, it felt like a completely natural fit to represent Lloyd Carlisle MINI as a Business Specialist. It's great to educate local businesses on how financially beneficial it can be to fund a MINI through their business".
 

What's your favourite MINI model?

"The MINI Countryman JCW - It looks great with the full JCW Sport kit. My two favourite colours that MINI do are Countryman-only at the moment (Smokey Green & Slate Blue). It's practical, the performance is there when you want it to be; it's the perfect all round car!"
 

Do you drive an All-Electric MINI? If so tell us about your experience?

"Not currently, but I have had experience of the whole range of all-electric MINI's - the All-Electric MINI Cooper has that iconic go-kart feel that is so synonymous with MINI, especially with the instant torque that electric offers! The MINI Aceman is a fantastic all-electric crossover that offers great practicality, and looks really cool. The Electric Countryman is fantastic too, a really comfy car with great range".
 

Tell us a fun fact that most people don’t know about you.

"I studied Music Technology at Leeds Beckett University and used to DJ at local club nights & festivals. I also played Rugby for Carlisle RUFC for 8 years".
