Take a look at the new BMW iX3

Vehicle Launch

What's New.

The new NA5 BMW iX3 is a complete reinvention, representing a "leap forward in development" that effectively skips a full vehicle generation. The most significant advancements are in its technology, which is centred around a new electronics architecture with four "superbrain" high-performance computers. This includes the "Heart of Joy," which manages driving dynamics with unprecedented speed and precision. The new design language is "reduced, characterful and timeless," moving away from the BMWs previous styling to create a modern, streamlined look both inside and out. The re-envisioned BMW Panoramic iDrive projects information across the entire width of the windscreen and integrates the new Operating System X with enhanced personalization and AI-enabled features. Finally, but perhaps most importantly, the iX3 pioneers sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology with new cylindrical battery cells and an 800V architecture, enabling a remarkable range of up to 805 km (500 miles) and ultra-fast 400 kW charging.

Innovative Drive & Chassis Control.

More Dynamic Performance, More Precision, More Efficiency.

The new BMW iX3 is built on a completely re-engineered platform, featuring an all-new electronics architecture with four "superbrains" to manage its core functions. The "Heart of Joy" is one of these high-performance computers, responsible for drivetrain and driving dynamics, processing information up to ten times faster than conventional units. This allows for unmatched handling and precision. The vehicle also uses a new digital nervous system with a wiring harness split into four zones, which reduces weight by 30%.

With its focus on seamless human-vehicle interaction, the new model includes the "superbrain of automated driving," which has 20 times the processing power of previous systems and enables a new level of driver assistance functions, such as the City Assistant with traffic light detection

Design.

Timeless design with modern sensibilities.

The BMW iX3 introduces a new design language that is reduced, characterful, and timeless, giving a modern interpretation of BMW's classic blueprint. It has the hallmark proportions of an SAV, with an upright front end and precise lines that emphasize its rugged presence.

Key design elements include the vertically arranged kidney grille and twin headlights, a new light signature that replaces chrome for a more sophisticated look, and flush glass surfaces and door handles. Inside, the cabin has an uncluttered, minimalist design that creates a spacious and airy feel, with a driver-focused layout.

The "floating" instrument panel and elegant, minimalist seats with excellent comfort are also new features, providing a clean and modern aesthetic.

User Experience.

Custom User experience with the revolutionary BMW Panoramic iDrive.

The user experience in the new iX3 is defined by BMW Panoramic iDrive, which elevates intuitive operation and driver focus. This system is a result of decades of experience and user feedback, aiming to keep the driver's hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. It combines four key elements.

The BMW Panoramic Vision, which projects information across the full width of the windscreen; the BMW 3D Head-Up Display; a free-cut-design Central Display with QuickSelect; and a new multifunction steering wheel with haptic feedback. The system is underpinned by the new BMW Operating System X, which offers extensive personalization, improved navigation, and a wide array of entertainment options, including video streaming and in-car gaming.

BMW eDrive Technology.

Sixth generation more efficient than ever.

The iX3 is powered by sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, which includes a highly efficient electric motor, a fundamentally new high-voltage battery with cylindrical cells, and 800V technology. This new system achieves a 20% higher energy density and 30% faster charging speeds. The iX3 50 xDrive variant features two motors that produce a combined 345 kW (469 hp), enabling a range of up to 805 km (500 miles*). The new 800V architecture allows for a peak charging rate of 400 kW, adding up to 372 km (231 miles) of range in just ten minutes. A new feature is also bidirectional charging, which allows the car to act as a mobile power bank or even supply energy back to a home or the grid.

Reduced CO2 Footprint.

More resource-efficient production and supply chain.

BMW's new holistic sustainability approach aims to significantly reduce the car's carbon footprint over its life cycle. The iX3 is designed with circularity in mind, with around one-third of the vehicle made from secondary raw materials. For example, components like the engine cover and some interior textiles are made from recycled materials, including marine plastic and recycled PET. This approach results in a 34% smaller product carbon footprint compared to its predecessor.

Production at the new BMW Group plant in Debrecen, Hungary, is also a key factor, as the facility does not use fossil fuels for normal operating conditions. This comprehensive strategy, combined with the efficiency of the new eDrive technology, makes the iX3 a major step towards a more sustainable future for the company.

*WLTP range of up to 500 miles. The official range figure is for comparison purposes only. Actual range will vary depending on driving style, speed, weather, and other factors.
