Lloyd Motor Group Brands Dominate Towcar of the Year 2027

Lloyd Motor Group's showroom brands have swept this year's Towcar of the Year awards, with the Škoda Superb Estate crowned outright winner and five more brands, Volvo, Volkswagen, BMW, MINI and INEOS Grenadier, each taking home class titles. Put through their paces by 42 rivals at the UTAC Millbrook Proving Ground, these results confirm what we already knew: whatever you're towing, there's a Lloyd vehicle built to handle it.
 

What is Towcar of the Year?

Run by the Caravan and Motorhome Club, Towcar of the Year is the leisure vehicle industry's longest-standing towing test. Entrants are grouped by caravan weight rather than price, so buyers can compare cars against the load they actually need to pull, with additional categories for pick-ups, electric, hybrid, luxury and family towcars. Every car is tested at Millbrook under identical conditions, covering ride quality, braking, stability and driveability while hitched.
 

Škoda Superb Estate — Overall Winner 2027

The Škoda Superb Estate SE L 2.0 TDI 193PS DSG 4x4 didn't just win its class, it topped all 42 entrants to take the overall title, along with wins in the 1600kg-1700kg category and Family Towcar. Judges praised its composed ride and effortless driveability, noting that its suspension absorbed the pull of the caravan without losing its refinement, while four-wheel drive traction and class-leading boot space rounded out a genuinely all-round performance.
