Lloyd Colne Raises Money for Local Rainbows

Company News

Lloyd Colne have kicked off the festive period with another bake sale, this time raising funds for the site’s local Rainbows group. The baking event saw a variety of mostly home-made treats on offer, and raised a total of £225!

Rainbows is a Girl Guiding programme for girls aged 4 to 7, engaging their imagination with play, building their life skills such as communication and first aid, and giving them the opportunity to explore new ideas through various fun activities. The programme thrives due to its culture of support and empowerment, with the local group seeing roughly 20 girls taking part.

Aftersales Retention specialist Kara Dixon organised the bake sale, and is a trained volunteer at her daughter Edith’s Rainbows group. Kara brought Edith along to collect the money raised and to sample the goodies on offer. The classic Butterfly Buns took the coveted top spot as Edith's favourite.

“We’ve been part of Rainbows now for 12 months, and it’s been amazing to see my daughter excel. We both love crafting and being creative, and Rainbows has been an excellent way to spend our spare time together getting involved in fun projects. A lot of younger children who are entering Rainbows were born in or around quarantine, which understandably has had an impact on their confidence with socialising, but at Rainbows, I’ve seen kids who were shy and timid at the start blossom and make fast friends. It is so important that young girls have that confidence, and the skills they learn will help them throughout their lives.”

At Lloyd Motor Group, we take pride in supporting our local community. Kara is currently training to be a leader in the Rainbows group, and says the money raised by the Lloyd Colne will help fund trips and supplies vital to giving the girls their best Rainbows experience.
