Meet Apprentice Accounts Assistant, Beth!

For National Apprenticeship Week 2024, we’re shining the spotlight on some of the fantastic apprentices we have across Lloyd Motor Group. For day 3 of the week, we’ve caught up with Beth, our Apprentice Accounts Assistant at Lloyd Carlisle, to get an insight into what it’s like to complete an apprenticeship at Lloyd Motor Group. Read on to find out more!

Tell us a bit about what your apprenticeship involves and your current role.

"My current role is Apprentice Accounts Assistant. As part of this, I attend Carlisle College to complete the AAT Level 3 qualification. I have nearly finished this, and will then be going on to complete my Level 4 qualification. Day to day, my job consists of allocating customers payments, inputting sales and purchase ledger invoices and chasing debtors".

Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?

"I chose to do an apprenticeship as I wanted to be able to learn firsthand, rather than just learning the theory and not being able to apply it. It also means I can earn while I learn".

What are you enjoying the most about your apprenticeship?

"The thing I am enjoying most about my apprenticeship is constantly being able to further my knowledge and learn new skills. Everyone here is so friendly and helpful too, which makes learning a lot easier".

Can you share a lesson or skill you've learned during your apprenticeship so far that you have found particularly valuable?

"During my apprenticeship, a valuable skill I have learnt is working as a team with my colleagues, because we all help each other if we need it and can offer support or advice if one of us is struggling with something. This is something I think is very valuable and important because sometimes starting a job after coming straight from school can be quite daunting, and knowing you have a team who are always happy to help makes it a lot easier when you start".

What are your plans for the future?

"I would like to stay within Lloyd Motor Group and continue to progress further in my role. I think it is such a positive and friendly work environment and somewhere I see myself staying for a long time".

What advice would you give to someone who is looking to start an apprenticeship?

"I would advise anyone thinking of applying for an apprenticeship to just go for it! There are so many benefits to it, especially here at Lloyd Motor Group, as you get all the help you need, and I have never looked back since starting".
