Company News

We are thrilled to announce that Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter is our Lloyd Newcastle BMW & MINI Charity of the Year for 2022/23.

A well-known and respected charity in the local area, Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter first opened its doors back in 1896 and has since helped thousands of lost, unwanted, neglected, abused and abandoned animals across the north east from their two shelters in the city centre.

As well as this Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter also run many events throughout the year including their Paws & Prosecco Ball this Friday (11th November) and their brilliant Christmas Market which will take place on the 3rd December this year with the team at Lloyd Newcastle sponsoring the local choir for the event.

Lloyd Newcastle BMW & MINI are proud to support such a fantastic charity that is truly making a difference in the local community. We are also pleased to support our former Lloyd Newcastle BMW and MINI colleague Rachael Kendall who has recently joined Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter as General Manager. Although Rachael is definitely a miss in our Lloyd Newcastle team, we are proud of her passion and commitment to animal welfare and look forward to nurturing this charity partnership.

You can help Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter in a variety of ways including donations, playing their weekly lottery, supporting them through their Amazon Wishlist and through their newly launched Warm Paws Appeal to help with their increased enegery costs.

Head of Business David Lewins said of the partnership:

“I have had the pleasure of working alongside Rachael for a number years in our Lloyd Newcastle Retailer where she was a key team member for over 18 years. I am so immensely proud of Rachael for following her passion and choosing a job where she can really make a difference.

I know that with her drive and ambition she will make a success of anything she puts her mind to. We are thrilled to be supporting such a fantastic charity and we are excited to see what the future holds.”

General Manager Rachael Kendall remarked:

“It was a difficult decision to leave the Lloyd Newcastle team as I loved my job and had many fantastic colleagues, however this new chapter in my career has been very rewarding and I am so pleased that Lloyd Newcastle BMW and MINI has given their support to the shelter and myself.

Like everyone else in the country, our charity is being hit by large cost increases especially in our energy bills, which means this is a crucial time to ask for support from our friends and our community. If you would like to make a difference to the lives of animals across the north east you can support us through our Amazon Wishlist, playing our weekly lottery and through our website donations page.

We are grateful for all the support and we are excited to kickstart our new charity partnership.”
