Catch Up with Alexandra for #AskAnApprentice Day!

The theme for the third day of National Apprentice Week is #AskAnApprentice!

We caught up with one of our apprentices at Lloyd Carlisle MINI, Alexandra Skowronek, to ask her how she’s finding her apprenticeship so far, and ask her whether she has any advice for our future apprentices.

1. Tell us a bit about what your apprenticeship involves and your current role.

“My current role is Apprentice Service Advisor – Day to day, I help look after the customers who bring their cars into our service department, and I keep them informed of the progress of their car when it’s in our care. I also keep up with customer retention, and let customers know when their vehicle is due a service”.
 

2. Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?

“I chose to do an apprenticeship because it is such a good way to learn. It lets you get hands on experience, which helps you learn along the way!”
 

3. What are you enjoying the most about your apprenticeship?

“The best thing about my apprenticeship so far is all of the skills I have learned – Since starting my apprenticeship, I have gained so much confidence when it comes to talking to customers, and I have also improved on my time management skills.”
 

4. What is the biggest thing you have learnt so far during your apprenticeship?

“The biggest thing I have learnt is how to produce quick solutions. In this role, situations can change quickly, so we need to be fast with producing solutions to help our customers”.
 

5. What are your plans for the future?

“My plan is to finish my apprenticeship and become a fully qualified Service Advisor, and stay within Lloyd Motor Group”.
 

6. What advice would you give to someone who is considering starting an apprenticeship at Lloyd Motor Group?

“My best advice would be to start the apprenticeship! It may seem scary if you haven’t had a job like this before, but Lloyd help you along the way. Honestly, it is one of the best decisions I made – I have made great friends and have learnt so much while being here”.
