Meet Corporate Sales Executive, David!
Let’s start at the beginning, tell me a little bit about yourself?
"I’ve been in the motor trade most of my working life, except for 6 years when I worked in Recruitment in the Procurement and Supply Chain. It was a great experience to see how another industry works, and I had the opportunity to meet some great contacts in the procurement world. Outside of work I enjoy going for trips on my motorbike and am a keen skier".
What drew you to the Lloyd Motor Group and your position as Corporate Sales Executive?
"I’d been with a PLC for around 8 years and kept hearing great things about BMW and Lloyd Group, so when the opportunity came up for a role in Newcastle I contacted David Lewins, who was my previous Head of Business, and we took things from there. With it being a family business, you can certainly tell they care for their staff and it’s exactly what I’d heard".
How long have you been in the role, and what qualities do you believe make a good Corporate Sales Executive?
"I’ve been with Lloyd Motor Group for 3 years on the 19th of Oct 23, and previously was with Mercedes-Benz in the same role and also Fleet Sales Manager. In terms of qualities, having a good knowledge of local businesses and networking groups always helps. It's also important to keep it simple and make it easy for customers to do business with me, as well as have an understanding of what benefits each vehicles represents to companies. We have some of the most impressive vehicles on the market, and having product knowledge and being able to answer customers questions is key".
What do you love most about your job?
"I love having customer contact on a daily basis, and it's a great feeling to deliver outstanding vehicles and see how excited the drivers are receiving their new car".
What has been the highlight when working with Lloyd Motor Group?
"The hightlight is the amount of repeat customers that I’ve dealt with. It seems that once you’ve had a BMW you’ll always have one. Customers are so passionate about BMW and that resonates within the team here".
What is your favourite car?
"I love the M3 Touring in Isle of Man Green. I’ve had a couple of older Mini Coopers S, so the new version of that is my favourite MINI".
What do you love about the BMW Brand?
"The technology in the new cars that are coming through is next level! But also the way BMW drive - they really are the best driving premium brand".
What do you love about the MINI Brand?
"They are funky, and handle like go carts".
Do you drive an EV? If so tell us about your experience?
"I’m currently driving an i4 M Sport Pro and have done over 4,000 miles in 3 months, and so far my experience of living with this car has been great. I’ve been to London and had a few trips over to the Lakes. When I went to London, the total charge time was just over an hour there and back, and with the BMW Charge card charging was easy. It worked out perfectly to grab a quick break and a coffee while the car charged. Previous to the i4, I had an iX3 for 6 months, and that was certainly a comfy car to drive".
What are you most looking forward to for the next 12 months?
"With the launch of the i5 this month, I’m excited to bring this to my customers. Giving them the chance to see and drive this premium saloon, I’m sure they’ll be as impressed as I was when I first saw it".
