Meet Eleanor Mason, our new BMW Sales Executive at Lloyd Carlisle BMW. Originally from Glasgow and currently living in Dumfries, Eleanor joined us in March and has already proven to be an excellent addition to the team.  Based at our Carlisle centre, we caught up with Eleanor to find out more about her, what she loves about her role and the BMW brand, and what drew her to join us here at Lloyd Motor Group.
 

How long have you worked in the motor industry? Tell us a bit about your background. 

I have worked in the motor industry for 7 years and started my career at Renault/Dacia. I have worked with the public in a retail environment for most of my adult life between my hometown of Glasgow and my current location of Dumfries. I took a 5-year break from work to raise my son before he started school as it was important to me to give him all my time in his early years.
 
Overall, I have worked with the public for the most part of 30 years. To unwind, I love nothing more than a long walk on the beach with our Labrador and we are very blessed to have some fabulous beaches in Dumfries and Galloway. 


Take us through a typical day in your role.

A typical day always starts with a good cup of tea!
 
The team are pretty much straight into things at Lloyd BMW, I have only just arrived, however it is very apparent it has been an extremely good first quarter for the business and we all look forward to that success continuing.
 
Daily checks of our forecourt ensure we are organised and ready for the day and although business has been excellent in the most difficult of times, we are so happy to have finally opened our doors and fully welcomed our customers back to ensure they receive the full Lloyd BMW experience.
 
We have an excellent diary system in place that allows us to keep on top of any messages or enquiries that have come through our internal system from customers, we also arrange full walkaround videos through our Lloyd TV system to allow customers to fully appreciate the cars from the comfort of their own homes, giving them the opportunity to ask any questions.
 
A huge part of the business is looking after our customers and we regularly follow up to ensure they are still happy with their current vehicle and if it is still meeting all their needs, or indeed if they would like to discuss a change, and of course, more tea!


What do you like most about your role and why?

 I love engaging with the customers and offering a service that will ultimately enhance their lives. A new car is one of the biggest purchases we make, and it is always an exciting time when a customer is due into the dealership to collect their shiny new vehicle and knowing you have played a huge part in the experience.


Why did you want to work for Lloyd Motor Group?

I had researched Lloyd Motor Group and it was quite clear the family-run business had an excellent reputation within the industry from employees to customers and from other dealerships.  Why wouldn’t you want to work for them?
 
As time goes by, companies, in my opinion, can run the risk of losing the personal touch, the very thing that made them a success in the first place but it is clear that Lloyd’s is continually very well thought of.


What do you love about the BMW brand?

I now commute from Dumfries to Carlisle, some people asked me why when my previous job was right on my doorstep? This was a big decision for me and now, I can honestly say, it does not feel like a commute at all.
 
The cars drive exceptionally well but they are also extremely comfortable and smart. The BMW iDrive system is fantastic allowing you to personalise the car in many ways again ensuring those longer journeys are all the more enjoyable.


Electric cars offer a huge opportunity for motoring. What are your thoughts on the future of electric driving?

I love the benefits of going electric, especially to the environment. BMW currently produces 13 electrified models between fully electric or plug-in hybrid so there is a lot to learn and I look forward to getting more involved and educating our customers on the benefits too!
