This month marks a significant milestone for Tim Natrajan, Senior Sales Executive, who celebrates 10 years at Lloyd Carlisle BMW. Known for his exceptional customer service, sales expertise, and genuine passion for helping customers find their perfect vehicle, Tim has been an integral part of the team.

Can you tell us about your career journey with us, from where you started to how you got to where you are today?

"Hi, my name is Tim.  I’ve worked for Lloyd BMW here in Carlisle for 10 years. A move to Cumbria in 2013 saw the start of a new career in the motor trade for me, having previously worked in the aviation sector for a number of years.  I’ve always been a passionate car fan, especially BMWs, and had many older BMWs when I was younger. I’ve gained some great long-term customers since being here and it’s always very rewarding to set someone up with the right car that suits their needs and allows them to live their lives more freely."

What do you enjoy most about working for Lloyd BMW Carlisle?

"I've recently taken on some more responsibilities as part of the Senior Sales Executive role, which I enjoy. The motor trade has changed massively in the 10 years I've been here, the technology of cars for example now is so advanced!  Diesels were the predominant force on the market 10 years ago, but now we are well into a new electrified era. I enjoy learning about the product and technology advances and ensure I'm up to date on everything. Having a passion for the brand helps me as I'm always excited about the cars, but the main part of the job involves people. Some of my customers have even become friends over the years!"

What achievement are you most proud of over the past 10 years? Is there a particular highlight?

"It's such a varied role that it's difficult to single out the thing I'm most proud of over the past 10 years! Soon after I started, we were temporarily relocated to a warehouse whilst the main showroom underwent refurbishment that took nearly a year. There have been many market challenges with interest rate rises, inflation, not to mention Brexit, The "Beast from the East" and Covid 19! I'm proud of still being excited about the product and wanting to move forward."

Any advice you’d give to someone just starting out in the Motor Trade?

"If I was to give advice to anyone starting in the motor trade, I would say you don't necessarily have to have a passion for cars (although it helps), you have to enjoy speaking to people, developing professional relationships and enjoy both working in an organised manner plus enjoying and coping well with unexpected challenges!  It's a cliche, but holds true, no two days are the same in the motor trade and it is constantly evolving!"

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

"Outside of work, my main interest is music. I’m a keen guitar player; I’ve played since I was 11 years old, so a long time now!  I’ve played in various bands and taught over the years, so this is a huge passion of mine. I currently play in a soul band based out of Penrith. We play most weekends around the North of England."

What's one fun fact about you?

"Well, not sure how fun it is, but I speak Italian as a second language (not an Indian language as my heritage and last name would suggest!)  as I lived in Italy for a number of years in my twenties."
